Product Lifecycle Statuses

This page describes the product lifecycle statuses used by Skulytics.

Product statuses indicate the current availability or lifecycle state of a product model and are used across Skulytics data outputs, including product listings, catalogs, and integrations.

Regional Scope

Product status is determined based on the United States market, using ZIP code 63011 as the reference location. This means:

  • All status values reflect availability and lifecycle signals observed in the U.S. market.
  • Availability or lifecycle outcomes may differ in other countries or regions.
  • ZIP code 63011 serves as a canonical U.S. reference point for standardization.
  • Future enhancements may introduce region- or country-specific status logic.
Supported Status Values:
  • Active: The product is currently active and available in the market.

    • Typical indicators:
      • Listed on the manufacturer’s official website.
      • Available through retailers or distributors.
      • Not marked as discontinued.
  • Coming Soon: The product has been announced but is not yet available for purchase.

    • Typical indicators:
      • Officially announced by the manufacturer.
      • Not yet released or widely available.
      • Limited or no retail listings.
  • Discontinued: The product has been officially discontinued by the manufacturer.

    • Typical indicators:
      • Removed from the official manufacturer website.
      • Explicitly marked as discontinued or no longer produced.
      • May still appear in secondary, resale, or clearance channels.
  • Inactive: The product is no longer actively marketed or sold, but has not been explicitly marked as discontinued.

    • Typical indicators:
      • No longer promoted by the manufacturer.
      • Limited or no retail availability.
      • Lifecycle status is unclear or transitional.
SKU Requirement:

To query product status, you must provide the SKU of the product.

  • You can enter a single SKU, or if you need to check multiple products, you can input multiple SKUs in the request, separated by commas (e.g., sku1,sku2,sku3).

This setup allows you to track the status of one or more products based on the current lifecycle and availability in the U.S. market.
